The art and design curriculum encourages pupils to respond to and appreciate the visual world. Pupils learn to appreciate a range of art forms derived from different styles, periods of history and cultural influence. Pupils are given the opportunity to study art and architectural history, global and regional craft traditions and Egyptian art heritage.
The Arts are a medium for expression, ideas, feelings and experiences. They enrich the sensory, emotional and creative potential of an individual. At Repton Cairo, our pupils are inspired to discover their passion and skill through art, music, drama and dance.
ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
The philosophy of the Art department is to encourage the notion of ‘Art for All’ and ‘Education through Exhibition’ with its doors open throughout the week for pupils of all ages to view and seek inspiration. The Egyptian art community is filled with creative individuals. Repton Cairo will seek inspiration in collaboration with local artists, in order to guide and inspire pupils of all ages.
The Drama department allows pupils to explore a variety of lives and situations. Creating plots, themes and make-believe on set ‘mise-en-scènes’ supports students’ expressive capabilities, while increasing their self-confidence and giving them the opportunities to appear on stage.
Music is at the heart of Repton Cairo and resounds throughout the School. Music is taught academically to all students up to Year 9. Repton musicians regularly go on to study Music at leading universities, with a number of recent graduates holding choral and organ scholarships at the Royal College of Music, among others. The Music department runs a busy schedule of weekly rehearsals including: String Ensembles, Bands, Junior and Senior String Quartets, Brass Ensembles and choirs. Instrumental music at Repton is actively promoted and all pupils are encouraged to learn an instrument.
