Maths Teacher (Senior School)

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Share the responsibility for the planning, teaching, and assessment of Mathematics across the Senior School (Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4).
  • Display the highest standards of professionalism in teaching and in relationships with colleagues, pupils, and the wider School community.
  • Plan teaching to achieve progression of learning by identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught.
  • Utilize a mastery approach to Mathematics, encouraging a deeper understanding and an ability for students to communicate mathematical concepts confidently.
  • Set tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest and engagement as they transition into Senior School and prepare for their IGCSEs.
  • Set clear targets for pupils, building on prior attainment.
  • Identify and support special educational needs or more able pupils within the classroom.
  • Contribute proactively to the school’s extra-curricular programme.
  • Carry out other such duties as the Principal may reasonably direct from time to time.

Qualifications and Attainment:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or a closely related field (Essential).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (Essential).

Skills and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of high-quality teaching experience as a qualified Mathematics teacher (Essential).
  • Experience in the delivery of the IGCSE and A-Level Mathematics
  • Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to develop a stimulating and engaging classroom environment for adolescents.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to successfully communicate the underpinning principles of the curriculum with parents.
  • Strong organizational skills, resilience, adaptability, and a sense of humour.
  • International school teaching experience (Desirable).
